The game is ON!
What is the biggest sport worldwide? You can deny it or admit it, but itβs football. The startup industry in this field is HUGE (itβs another topic for the newsletter), but today I want to have a look into the one startup that has grown confident over the last two years.
Letβs introduce you β Prematch.

Market Overview π
The youth sports market is a big industry. The global market for youth sports was estimated at 37.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2022 and was forecast to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 9.2 percent until 2030. (Statista)
Recent trends reveal a surge in digital engagement, with fans flocking to online platforms for live match updates, interactive content, and personalized experiences. (FDS)
The global soccer market size was valued at USD 54.34 billion in 2023 and USD 55.97 billion in 2024. It is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.9% during the forecast period, reaching USD 70.29 billion by 2030. (FDS)
Just before we jump to another topic, I want to add a few words about Prematch's competitors. I would say, that they are currently unique with the vision and features they provide to the end user.
The only app I found that is very similar to Prematch was TONSSER.
What do they offer?-
Check your personal stats such as goals, assists, clean sheets, and matches played.
Inspire, and draw inspiration from a broad community of players
Get prematch tips and postmatch analysis from your own pocket AI coach.
Of course, itβs not all the features, but by the goal, UX, and mission they look like the main competitor.
What I could say from the very beginning is that Prematch is doing good, itβs telling the story about its product. It can make a huge difference in the end.
They are talking about product.
They are talking about people.
They are talking about life.
Thatβs what I am missing from 99% of startups no matter in which field they are building products. If you build something, please talk about it.
Product Idea βοΈ
What is Prematch? If you open a website, the slogan says loud!
ITβS YOUR GAME π₯
What is behind it?
Instant access to your market valueβ¦
Wow! That looks awesome, but how do I know my market value?
Well, Prematch is the first app on the market that provides amateur players with the experience of the professional football market. This is how I feel about this app and its product idea.
You as a player, can register yourself, your club, and your league, receive all information about the match, news, results, stats, player performance + market value. They explain in the app, how they calculate this market value.
For me, itβs the unique selling point of this product + core data that is required in any football league. Just imagine, how engaging having all this kind of statistic in your pocket for your Sunday league.
It might help young players to grow and amateurs to continue to play the game they love with new ways of engagement and approach. Thatβs why I love amateur sports and when new products step up in the market to make it even better.
What features do they have? Itβs a lot already.
Match Statistic
Last 5 Matches Power Ranking
Leading Goalscorers
Phases of Strengths and Weaknesses
Odds prediction
Team/League news
League Table
Players information
Player Stats
Player Market Value
Upcoming Matches
β¦and much more. Itβs already an ecosystem for amateurs (not only) football.
Landing page π
From the beginning, I would like to say, that I like their style of design for the landing page and application itself. I understand that design and taste may be different for everyone, but I always look at the design as a whole. This is my personal feeling. If the design, structure of the website, slogan, and navigation do not repel me from the first minute, then I can already consider it a success.
Their positioning is very well, and thatβs what I talked about above.
from the local county to regional league levels!
Below you can find more information about the application itself with the main values. I think that this page covers all the basic questions that the user might have, and what he will get by the end. I donβt like when a product with a clear vision starts to overcomplicate the landing page and by the end lose potential acquisition.
If you have a strong product vision and mission, you donβt need to build a rocket with your webpage. The main framework is enough to attract. I think Prematch is doing a really good job with it because its main power is the idea of the app itself.
Application π±
The application itself is very intuitive but today you have the possibility for 2 markets.
Germany + UK
Itβs a German-based startup. They used a very good growth model because:
They validated the idea in the local market + found product market fit + got feedback + expanded to a new market (currently the UK) and it seems itβs successful.
You have multiple options to register as a player, coach, or social admin during registration. Thatβs pretty good, because if you relate to the team but have another role, at least you can access your league and your team.
I decided to save you time and want to provide a short overview of the application. π
Honestly, it looks solid already. This type of product is where everyone is involved.
For example, my brother plays in the Sunday league in my homecountry in Lithuania. They have this kind of stats on one of the local websites, but this solution is a completely new experience. I hope it will be available soon to each country and league and it seems like the main goal for the product.
Live match update β½οΈ
The application has push notifications for upcoming games or live match updates. Everything is like in the real world. The only thing I was thinking about was the data flow. Itβs impossible to have scouts in all these leagues or have an automated solution. Most likely someone from the game should sit and enter data manually for goal scorer, match update, time, etc. It would be interesting to see what the exact solution looks like, but I donβt see any other options here for now. Itβs my assumption but some data inaccuracy might happen.
In conclusion, I could say that now for me it looks like a good eco-system for amateur football and I honestly hope they will bring this solution to more countries.
Ideas π₯
This is my lovely part in each case study for many reasons.
I can go as crazy as I can.
I can go crazy because I donβt have to think about the engineering side and integration. π
Of course, I am still thinking that any of the ideas might be integrated but it depends on value/cost calculation.
Letβs start.
If you donβt know yet Playermaker, itβs time to know it now. Itβs a football tracker that tracks all your activities on the pitch. What does it mean for us? It would be great to export real data from devices like this to your Prematch account. Itβs not the only one in this category, but to have this kind of collaboration might be beneficial. Just imagine that youβre playing and real stats connected to your account. You can share insight, see your progress, and engage with the process even more. I agree, that not everyone will be able to get it, but today we are talking just about ideas. π
Scouting
Based on the idea above, for me, Prematch looks like a huge scouting database that might be helpful in finding talents worldwide. Just imagine a young player playing in a local league but doesnβt have too many resources to break into professional football. His profile might be a key for scouts to find the right player or to watch him in a real game. Seems like an additional product, but with filtering by region, age, and price, you can have a useful and helpful tool that might bring new stars to the football.
Highlights
One idea after another, and to make it even better, some highlights of the player or of the game make total sense for this application. I know itβs hard, but we all miss games. It would be great to have the possibility to watch some key moments of the game just to get an understanding of what happened there. It also might be an additional element for the idea above.
E-commerce
What about each team selling their own brand? Might be too much, yes, but to have the possibility to integrate e-commerce into each team/league for their purposes might be an additional revenue for them. It might be some collaboration + maybe even donations. Why do I talk about this? I know that sometimes teams have difficulties with budget and to have the opportunity to get support might be very helpful for them. I am just trying to provide solutions on how to overcome some challenges that teams could have.
Prematch Champions League
I know how good Prematch is at telling stories, and I would love to see onsite tournaments for selected clubs. It might be only 1st place in each league or to create another draw for this kind of event, but just imagine gathering all these teams together for one event. Another opportunity for players as well. We know already football alternative leagues, and it might be a good opportunity for the future as well.
Line-ups
Having some additional pre-match info would be cool as well. Additional elements for line-ups. I also understand that sometimes players could come last minute, but this is the element that I would like to see personally in the future.
Livestreaming
I want it all. Live streaming is a complicated topic, but at some point, integrations with products like GameChanger or Veo cam could be additional benefits for the app. Itβs not available for all, yes, but if someone has it, why donβt give the possibility to integrate it and provide access to the full coverage of the game?
Pro Clubs tryout
You hear it. Everyone deserves a change. What if to had collaborations with clubs and organized some tryout events where clubs could watch potential players or select a player for a tryout in advance based on their performance? This scouting theme might be a separate topic at all, but for me, itβs the whole ecosystem of the app where you have everything in your pocket.
A note from the Author βοΈ
Do you know what Iβm excited about when I find an application like this?
It helps my dreams come true.
Sometimes I could feel some regret that I didnβt go to the professional sport (or at least havenβt tried), and now as an amateur athlete when I find all these kinds of startups, technologies, and wearables Iβm so happy.
I think that most startups even donβt know what kind of mission they have. They help people to feel like professionals, train like professionals, and compete like professionals. This is what I find the most powerful thing at all. It helps to fulfill your life with this feeling of belonging to something big. Itβs your small goals and achievements, but itβs what helps you to go further and beyond.
Prematch is doing a great job, and I hope they will continue to do it.
